Abstract

Our article falls within the framework of recent research in translation studies, which focuses on translation in general and literary translation in particular. During this intellectual process, the translator encounters discourses with a predominantly aesthetic and cultural character. To successfully complete their task, the translator must strive to produce a successful translation that faithfully conveys the author's intent, taking into account both the linguistic and extralinguistic aspects of the source text. To this end, we deemed it useful to demonstrate, through this study, the applicability of the discourse analysis approach and its potential to capture the cultural and social dimensions inherent in the texts to be translated. This method, in principle, serves to analyze texts on linguistic and social levels by describing the mechanisms that enabled the translator to understand a discourse, grasping the logical connections between all the text's parameters: structure, context, coherence, and so on. We will attempt to confirm or refute this hypothesis throughout the following pages.
