This paper deals with the criticism of translation into Arabic done by Dr Malek Abid Abou Chehioua and Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed Khalef (1999) of the "Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order", written by Samuel P. Huntington (1996). The book was a prominent event in academic, cultural and political circles stating that the 21st century will experience civilizational and cultural conflicts. The criticism focuses on examining the translators' behaviours and investigating to what extent they succeeded in translating and conveying the ideas and new terms whose the English corpus abounds and which is one of the tools used by Western strategic theorists and experts to present future visions and plans. The sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu applied in the translation studies was implemented.
This study came to the conclusion that the translators have largely succeeded in achieving their goal of making the Arab citizen conscious about the other and aware of the implications of Samuel Huntington's thesis. However, the translators' lack of a sociological perspective made them fail to translate many of the terms coined by the theorists of the clash of civilizations and the new world order.
