Abstract

This study aims to investigate the interest of the publishing and printing houses in both Western and Arab worlds in the process of translating children's stories. It starts by presenting the strategy used by these publishing institutions in printing and distributing various publications among readers; then, how far these institutions are interested in translated books compared to written ones. Finally, it restricts this interest to the translated children's stories which are sometimes culturally adapted by a conscious translator and the way they are edited. It is concluded that due to their great particularity, children's stories, as they target a sensitive audience, are often influenced by the strategy that any publishing house follows in its work and it is based on the ideology of the publishers.
