Abstract

The present paper argues for the theoretical frames of the Scripture Translations, namely the functional equivalence, relevance, literary-functional equivalence and intercultural mediation, that most of them consider the context and the recipient as main factors in the translation process, therefore their focus on “the influence” was pivotal, as it has already been achieved through the rapid spread of the translation of the Bible all over the world. This leads us to put forward a fundamental question about translating the meanings of the Qur'an, and to what extent it can achieve the same effect, and to what extent can these western theories be applied to translating the meanings of the Qur'an. Within this framework, the article deals with the study of the process of translating the Bible and comparing it with the process of translating the meanings of the Qur'an, identifying the differences between them, and the possibility of benefiting from it in order to achieve the same effect.
