Quality of translation has always been a core issue for translators. Thus, many concepts were coined suggesting different standards of evaluation that vary according to translation theories, approaches, and strategies adopted by the translator to reach their goals. Julian House proposes a model providing for an analysis of both source and target texts based on scientific and social judgment. House also suggests that assessing the quality of translation implies assesssing the cultural filters used as well. In order to verify the efficacy of this model, this paper attempts to apply it on a literary text that includes visions, ideas, imagination, proverbs and other cultural, psychological and social items specific to various societies, which makes the task of the translator extremely complicated. The point is to provide an objective and comprehensive evaluation for a better translation.
