Abstract

 مراعاة الجمهور العربي المتلقي ومستوى تفكيره. The process of imitating and simulating people in their sayings, behavior or physical appearances and morals, whether through talk, sign, act or through sarcasm that sends underestimation and causes harm by drawing attention even if the element of irony is absent, destroys the human relationships. Translating these styles are considered one of the toughest challenges that faces the specialized translator, especially in audio-visual field for its connection to the cultural and social dimension. This is what we try to tackle in this research paper by addressing the aspects of irony style and presenting its types. We also addressed some approaches of translating ironic jokes and the skills that the translator should acquire. We will try as well to transfer the idea of ​​irony from the show to the mental image according to comparative descriptive approach in order to enrich researches in this field. Finally we conclude our work by playing some clips from the TV series “FRIENDS” dubbed into Arabic, rich with ironic scenes and comment on it. The result of this research is that the cultural factor has a principal role in identifying the nature of the translational process. In addition, the translator should take into consideration reception issues and Arabic audience particularity
