Abstract

Abstract : There is no doubt that legal texts are complicated & difficult due to the nature of the language used and the polysemic terminology .Compared to the other specialized texts as economic , political & scientific has a mandatory nature and is characterized by its technical nature and its special expressions. This paper aims at shed light on legal text translation which falls within specialized texts and which consists of studying one of the French & Arabic UN texts , namely the Declaration on elimination of violence against women issued by the UN General Assembly by virtue of its decision 104/408 on February 23rd 1994.Through the present declaration we will ask the problematic of translating UN texts on the basis of equivalence , subject of our study which raise interest of translation theorists for its importance in fixing how is the relation between the source text & the target text Keywords: Legal translation,UN texts, declaration; Equivalence; source text, target text
