Abstract

This article titled: “Bridgerton and the Multilingual Screen: How Does Subtitling Translate Intercultural Emotions?“ examines intercultural subtitling in the transmedia series Bridgerton, focusing on the translation of complex emotions (sarcasm, trauma, paranoia) between French and Arabic. Addressing gaps in research on hybrid affective states and transmedia narratives, it employs an interdisciplinary framework combining cognitive linguistics, cultural studies, and semiotics to explore the balance between artistic fidelity, technical constraints, and cultural adaptation. The analysis, grounded in a holistic methodology inspired by Franzelli and Kress & van Leeuwen, demonstrates that subtitling is a multidimensional process of cultural negotiation.
