Interpretation did not receive much attention from researchers, as was the case with translation. Despite the recourse of nations to interpreters over the time for diplomatic, colonial and commercial purposes. And the recognition of interpreting activity as an autonomous profession after the Second World War. Interpretation was not perceived as a science until early 70’s as part of translation studies. In this regard, this article deals with the problematic of the transformation of interpreting research from translation studies to interpreting studies. The light was shade on how the latter has become today an independent academic field, encompassing a number of new many sub-disciplines. The study’s result showed that interpretation was no longer a part of translation studies since the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Especially that translation studies is different from interpreting studies. It focuses mainly on oral corpus, and is affected by the context in which it occurs.
