Peer Review Process

Maalim Journal adopts a double-blind peer review system, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the entire evaluation process. This approach guarantees fairness, objectivity, and academic quality.

The journal uses the ASJP (Algerian Scientific Journal Platform) as its official system for manuscript submission, editorial workflow management, and peer review follow-up.

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit their manuscripts exclusively through the ASJP platform, in accordance with the journal’s submission guidelines.

2. Preliminary Editorial Assessment

After submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team in order to verify:

  • Its relevance to the journal’s aims and scope
  • Its originality and compliance with academic integrity standards

Possible outcomes:

  • Desk Rejection: if the manuscript is outside the journal’s scope or does not meet the required standards
  • Proceed to Review: if the manuscript satisfies the initial evaluation criteria

3. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to specialists in the relevant field.

  • Usually two reviewers are appointed
  • In specific cases, a third reviewer may be designated
  • An editor may supervise the review process and communication

4. Peer Review Stage

Reviewers evaluate the scientific quality, relevance, clarity, and originality of the manuscript and provide comments along with one of the following recommendations:

  • Reject
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Accept

5. Revision by the Author

If revisions are requested, the author must address the reviewers’ comments carefully and resubmit the revised version through the ASJP platform.

6. Final Editorial Decision

The final decision is made by the editorial board after consideration of:

  • The reviewers’ reports
  • The quality of the revised version
  • The manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s academic standards

Possible final decisions:

  • Reject
  • Accept for Publication

7. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo a final stage of preparation, including:

  • Language editing
  • Formatting and layout adjustment
  • Proofreading before publication

8. Publication

Once all editorial stages are completed, the final version of the article is published in Maalim Journal.
