Manifestations of cultural and linguistic diversity in Algeria: Toponymy as a model

Abstract

This study includes the most important manifestations of cultural and
linguistic diversity in Algeria, with a focus on the topic of toponymy. Algeria is considered
as a continent, characterized by diversity and wealth, but within a framework of coexistence
and harmony, which constitutes a source of strength for the country and qualifies it to
become a pivotal country in the Maghreb, Africa and the Arab world. Toponymy is the most
prominent field in which this diversity and richness appears, as we have presented some
toponymic models from different regions, which carry various meanings and connotations.
We have concluded that toponymy, as one of the basic components of intangible heritage;
can constitute a basic building block in studying and investigating the extent of cultural and
linguistic diversity in Algeria
